-How I act-
Personality: Selene might look mellow and obedient, but don’t let that smile and the Hufflepuff House trappings fool you! When it comes right down to it the girl can be quite the mistress of mischief. One would think she belongs in Ravenclaw, the way she seems to always be at least semi-studious – another “deception”. Unlike her foster brother, Selene does try to apply and stretch herself academically. Like Robin, she is quiet in class unless she has a question: often to expand her understanding beyond the confines of the class or if she is challenged. Although she is an intelligent young lady and able to pull an O in some of her subjects, one will find that Selene often grossly over-studies for her exams. She also has a few areas she feels utterly hopeless in: Potions and Arithmancy, to name a couple. Overall she is very determined to learn all that she can, so long as it doesn’t interfere with Quidditch.
Aside from academic excellence to be used against her uncle Lycurgus later in life, Selene’s other passions are flying and Quidditch. She’s a natural flyer and is often dead set to fly at least once a day – rain, snow, sleet, hail, or sunshine! One day Selene would like to become a professional Quidditch player and play for the Holyhead Harpies. Or, at least, that is but one of the opportunities the teen is considering.
Socially, Selene is confident enough to typically make the first move in a potential conversation if the person seems approachable. She is very sensitive to approachability and microexpressions. Very open-minded, Selene is determined that anyone can do anything so long as they put their mind to it. She tries to come off as charming, cheerful and positive, and despite her confidence she attempts to appear humble rather than arrogant. Anyone that this young lady deems a friend will soon realize that she is incredibly loyal and kind – unwilling to hold a grudge unless she has just cause for it. Selene is slow to anger but easy to frustrate, and becomes exceedingly defensive if she feels threatened.
Overall, as long as a person isn’t aggressive (Quidditch notwithstanding) Selene is an agreeable but sensitive girl. She disdains aggressive authority, and will fight until whatever end for her beliefs. She cherishes the company of friends and family (Lycurgus Blake not included, for obvious reasons). When she isn’t cramming knowledge into her head or socializing, one will often find her out on the Quidditch pitch, or that she’s snuck off with Robin somewhere.
-History-
Your Story Please? Selene Blake was born to Leonidas and April Blake in the year 2030. Both of her parents were sixteen years old. Leo and April waited until the next summer to marry, when both had officially turned seventeen. The Blake family was pleasantly surprised to learn that their daughter was a metamorphmagus. Her ability in this rare magical talent was Selene’s first demonstration of magic, when she was three. Her early childhood was much happier than the one her father and paternal uncles received. But even still: her happy beginnings were numbered...
Tragedy struck the little family in the form of Leonidas’ older brother, Lycurgus Blake. Lycurgus had had a long-standing crush on April Carpenter, Selene’s mother. He stewed for nine long years on the fact he had missed his chance with the witch. The wizard eventually lost touch with reality. First he murdered a similar-looking couple: the Rider family. They had a little boy of approximately the same age as little Selene. The child, named Robin, was taken to an orphanage.
Not long after this double-homicide did Lycurgus set out to murder his brother and sister-in-law. Although April was abducted for a time she, too, met a brutal fate. Lycurgus attempted to push legal paperwork through the system to adopt the now-orphaned Selene, but it wasn’t long before the law caught up with his killing spree. Selene testified against him in court despite being utterly terrified.
Coincidentally, she was sent to the same orphanage that Robin Rider had been dropped off in. The pair almost instantly hit it off. One would rarely see one without the other. When foster-parents came to adopt, seeking a boy and a girl, Selene and Robin were immediately at the top of the list of potentials. It didn’t take long thereafter for them to be welcomed to the Stone family.
Selene is just now entering her fifth year at Hogwarts...
