Personality:
Bellatrix’s personality is an interesting paradox: full of rules of thumb and subsequent exceptions to those guidelines. She values patience, yet can be impatient; she is cautious, yet at the same time enjoys seeking the thrill of a moment. With firm conviction it is believed what doesn’t kill her will make her stronger. Some may see her coming across as cold, distant, and aloof – a woman of few words. One constant is she weighs her words before she uses them. Things she loves include: fighting, challenges, and the successful kill of a target marked for death. Bellatrix would like you to believe that she is never reckless and that she is certain of success even while in thrill-seeker mode. It takes a lot of effort for her to admit to her flaws and weaknesses. It’s a pride and glory issue.

Being raised in a family of assassins provides much of Bellatrix’s unique perspectives about the world. Everything is seen as having a lifespan and in due time that lifetime will expire. Melancholy as it occasionally makes Bellatrix, she is more often to keep going with an added spark of determination to live life at its fullest. This everything-is-temporary mindset can often make it difficult to gift her things, but she appreciates the thought nonetheless. What really upsets her are freshly-cut flowers – that a life, though inanimate, was cut short for her limited pleasure. She was told at one time that any death dealt must, ideally, serve a greater purpose than mere pleasure - something she considers more to be a feeble guideline than an actual rule...

Friends see an added layer to Bellatrix’s personality. In fact, with friends she does a complete flip, trading her reservations for talkativeness and a nearly insatiable appetite for to have fun. Gaining this friendship can be tricky, though, since Bellatrix typically tries not to get too closely attached to people. At any time a close friend could be marked for assassination, and she would rather not invest only to lose in the end. This very thing happened in her past and Bellatrix has not been able to forgive herself since. Once a true friendship is struck with Bellatrix she is a loyal companion right up until the bitter end.

Those closest to her heart also have the perk of getting to refer to her as ‘Trix’ – a nickname she typically hates, but will tolerate when used by the right person.



Your Story Please?
Bellatrix is the second and youngest child born to Torvald and Phoebe Erickson, in Norway. Despite the unassuming surname, her family operated out of a secret location as a guild of assassins that employed magical and (occasionally) muggle means. In comparison with her older brother, Kenneth, Bellatrix was constantly teased about her status as baby of the family. They often wagered that Kenneth could likely accomplish a task much more effectively than Bellatrix. After years of training in her family’s trade from almost the moment she learned to walk, she showed them all just how wrong they were to underestimate her. Kenneth had his own shining moments but he tended to make bets with his sister on the things he was not so great with. When Bellatrix would get mad or defeat him in a contest he would refer to her as Hell’s Bells... and yes it was in apart a nod to the muggle band AC/DC. The other part was because her temper and competitiveness were both not to be trifled with.

When she reached the age for her school years, there was some debate over which academic institution to send her to. Phoebe, an alumnus of Beauxbatons, wanted to send her little girl there. In her opinion Bellatrix was much too wild and in need of some refinement. Torvald, on the other hand, felt his daughter was just fine the way she was and would do best in Durmstrang – his old school. In the end Torvald won out, and so Durmstrang became Bella’s alma mater. She excelled in potions and the Dark Arts.

During her time at the school Bellatrix met her first-ever boyfriend, Wilhelm Rothbauer. He had been a bully towards senior and junior students alike until he tried messing with Bellatrix. She swiftly put him in his place, and from that day forward it was love. Sometimes she joined him in the bullying. Most times she managed to talk him out of his tyranny. They were a young and incredibly reckless couple. At the end of their next-to-last year at the school, the pair had a passionate end-of-term celebration before going home.

It wasn’t long after returning home that the Ericksons learned that Bellatrix was pregnant. Her parents were livid, and as a result rigged Bellatrix’s first true test in her skills as an assassin: her first mark was none other than her boyfriend, Wilhelm. Receiving the news of her first mark, and realizing who said target was, nearly drove the young witch mad with grief. She was so stressed over having to choose between her boyfriend and her family that complications in the pregnancy arose. Bellatrix lost the baby soon after. After she recovered, she was once again given the ultimatum: kill her assigned mark, or be disowned from the family.

Frustrated and poisoned by words from her family Bellatrix tearily wrote to Wilhelm, asking to see him again before the next school year started. They spent the night out in a meadow, and shortly after he was satisfied and sound asleep Bella delivered the killing blow. Since that night she has never been able to forgive herself, nor has she felt it worth getting close to too many people. She feared that her parents would mark her other friends for death next.

It was a relief when her time at Durmstrang was complete. Her parents thankfully hadn’t scheduled any more friends for her to assassinate, though she was for all intents and purposes an employed assassin by her family’s outfit. In remembrance of Wilhelm’s death, Bellatrix occasionally adopted a tactic not unlike that of the black widow spider for her marks: seducing the poor fool to bed and murdering them once lured or as they slept. As an added bonus this antic irritated her parents to no end. As time passed she missed Wilhelm less and less, and the “black widow” antics decreased in frequency to a purely whimsical activity.

Not very long ago, Bellatrix was introduced to a fellow assassin. She thought it was strictly family business, until they revealed they were a spy for a man named Corvus. This Corvus Darrow was putting together a cause for the renewal of a pureblood regime, and her family wanted her to go and represent their clan. She has since proven herself amongst the ranks to the point of earning one of five select spots in the upper echelons of the organization. She is now known as a Fury, and is rather amused at the rumor going around that she and her “sister” Furies were created solely from magic by Corvus himself.
